About Production Division - Sara Shaak

Sara Shaak has been widely known as a "go-to" person for filming in the regions of British Columbia. She has more than 10 years experience as a film commissioner, most recently in the Okanagan, where she has successfully managed the complex needs of productions setting up within the fastest growing region of the Province of British Columbia.

The Production Division at Grapevine targets Sara's unique understanding of the business needs of film production coupled with her valuable experience and influence within the government - economic development and communications sectors.

In her film commission career, Sara has worked to help facilitate more than 100 film, TV, commercials and documentary productions including: Fido, Reindeer Games, Dreamcatcher, Insomnia, Iron Road, and Double Jeopardy. Before moving to the Okanagan, Sara was instrumental in forming the Northern BC Film Commission and most recently, under Sara's leadership production activity within the Okanagan region has flourished. Sara has also lived and worked in Vancouver, Victoria and Whistler making her knowledge of the areas of the province and the process for filming extensive.

Sara has also been very active internationally - as a member for the past eight years on the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) Board of Directors - the worldwide association for film commissions. Sara most recently served as the AFCI's Vice-President for the past four years, reaching the highest level of office ever served by a Canadian Film Commissioner. Prior to her film commission activities, Sara operated a public relations consultancy and has worked extensively in the economic development/local government sector.

Sara has always been an entrepreneur at heart and works extremely hard to ensure the success of every project she manages.
